For challenge three of Dundrum Town Centre’s ‘Blogger in Residence’ competition we were asked to write a report on the ‘Fall For Fashion’ fashion shows that were held this weekend. And so, with my camera and notebook, I gladly attended and here is my report..

Autumn is my favourite season, I love the way the footpaths fill with rusted leaves, the crisp cool air at dusk, but above all, I love dressing for Autumn weather. The Autumn-Winter fashion consistently surpasses the Spring-Summer collections, well in my opinion anyway. There is so much more to offer in Autumn, the coats, hats, leather gloves, boots, all of my favourite items that are missing from Summer collections. I also love layering, regardless of it being a seasonal trend, it is a large part of my personal style, piecing outfits together is far more interesting in Autumn as there are simply more layers and accessories.
The Fall For Fashion event at Dundrum Town Centre did not disappoint, showcasing all the amazing new Autumn-Winter season merchandise the centre offers in brilliantly styled outfits. At the beginning of the show the audience were handed a booklet which informed that the show was split into five themes; Coat Story, Military Parade, Jean Genie, Lady Like Chic and Glam Nights’ Party Wear. There was a description of each outfit written in order with the sequence of the show, stating which brand each item was and the cost. Along with this the models carried a small sign which gave the name of the brand they were wearing. Why doesn’t every fashion show do this! As soon as a viewer spotted an item they liked they immediately knew where to find it and the price.
The themes were great as not only did they cover the new season trends but they showcased what every girl wants to see. At this time of year everyone is looking for the perfect Winter coat and Dundrum were sure to show us their varying selection. I really liked how their was a section dedicated to jeans; jeans are often overlooked in fashion shows but jeans are closet staples and as everyone knows, you always have to see jeans on someone to see them properly. The jeans in the show fitted right in with all the new trends with Cherry coloured denim, denim with leather detailing and jeans with Brocade finishes.
My favourite trend however (and the one that extended my current wishlist the most!), was Lady Like Chic. Although I must say, if I had just read the booklet prior to the show I would never think that I would find this trend preferable to the rest, I would not describe my style as anyway lady-like. However the styling for this trend was particularly flawless. There was a very classic and vintage style to the outfits. A few outfits depicted the perfect elegantly stylish hat-glove-perfect coat ensemble, and anything with a felt fedora hat will always impress me. I loved how the lady-like vintage style was portrayed but with all the new season trends and colours. Here’s a few of my favourite looks…
White Wool Coat, €99.95; Cream Peplum Top with Pearl Collar, €39.95; Diamante Clutch, €59.95, all by ZARA. Fascinator, €98, by Coast.
This outfit is exactly why I love fashion shows; if I had seen this coat in store hanging on a rack, I would have probably overlooked it. Yet, when I seen it in the show it was an instant wishlist hit! It’s the kind of style you need to see on, but it’s the way it’s styled here that I love. It looks gorgeous and so elegant on trend with the cream on white colouring. The neckline of the coat sits perfectly on the pearl collar top and the contrasting textures fit perfectly. I love the neckline of the coat and again it’s something you need to see on to appreciate.
Helen McAlinden Grey Belted Coat, €510; Matching Grey Dress, €240; Episode Snake Skin Bag, €111.50, all from House of Fraser
Lady-like elegance with an on-trend snakeskin bag. This is the perfect winter coat; great quality material, neutral colour, and sophisticated yet understated. I love how the length of the coat sits just above the top of the boot and how the hat and leather gloves give a classic vintage look to the outfit, again a gorgeous coat perfectly styled.
Silk Blouse, €143; Velvet Skirt, €163; Suede Clutch by Biba; Felt Fedora Hat, €98, all from House of Fraser. Boots by Ecco, €190.
I adore this vintage inspired outfit. I love how the silk blouse contrasts with the voluminous velvet skirt. The belt is perfect for clinching in the waist and thus balancing out the volume of the skirt.
Snake Skin Shirt Dress, €189; Green Felt Fedora, €98, both by Biba; Black Leather Tote, €389; Gold Bangle, €156, all from House of Fraser.
The detailed print of this dress is gorgeous. Prints, patterns and textures are all big this season and snakeskin is not to be overlooked. This classic shirt dress style is so flattering and easy to wear, the outfit shows how a simple dress can make for an amazing outfit with some great winter boots and on trend accessories. Biba at House of Fraser has an amazing selection this season
This is one of my favourite jackets this season, leather jackets are always a must have, and Karen Millen do some of the best, but this jacket with just a touch of snakeskin print is a must have. I love how the black biker jacket looks with the silk material.
Leather Trim Coat, €149; Cream Silk Blouse, €49.99; Olive Trousers, €49.95; Studded Clutch Clutch, €49.95; Boots, €99.95, all by ZARA
I have been looking for the perfect pair of trousers for this season and these Zara ones are just them. Paired with a simple blouse and some studded accessories and an on trend leather trim coat and it’s the perfect cool, on trend and easy to wear ensemble.
Wine Blazer; Metal Tipped Collar Blouse, €15; Navy Animal Print Jeans, €17; Studded Bag, €11; Studded Belt, €3; Wine Studded Boots, €22, all by Penneys
Navy and Burgundy are key colours this season and Penneys have a great selection. The length of the jeans is great and sits nicely with the ankle boot. A jeans, blouse and blazer outfit is a fail safe outfit this season, especially with this colour scheme.
As you can see the fashion show showed a great mix of styles and trends but yet all the outfits complimented each other. There was a colour palette of khaki, burgundy with a mix of blacks and greys and canary yellow. The show was a perfect mix of chic and sophisticated yet fun and wearable ensembles. The show was a great depiction of all that Dundrum Town Centre has to offer. I can’t wait to go back with more time for shopping, wishlist in hand!
