Last weekend Shutterbug Vintage
along with Folkster
hosted their popular biannual Kilo Sale in Kilkenny. Shutterbug Vintage store and Portrait Studio is run by siblings Blanaid and Eoin Hennessy, and together with their team of stylist Shutterbug has become an amazing vintage store and online store. My Boyfriend, Stiofán, and I drove down to Kilkenny on the Friday night so that I could be at the event bright and early when it opened. We arrived ten minutes prior to the opening and there was already hundreds waiting, the event was huge! Here is how I got on..
The kilo sale was held in a large ballroom and all items in the ballroom were inclusive in the kilo sale whereby items bought were priced by weight, €20 per kilo. Outside of the ballroom Folkster had a few stalls set up with some amazing pieces. Folkster is an amazingly unique website which sells Shutterbug vintage pieces and brands such as Bonzie and Jeffrey Campbell.
|Snaps of me rummaging through the stalls and boxes.. it was organised really well so that everything was easy to find even with the droves of shoppers!
What I wore..
|Camel Coat, Vintage; Fedora, Warehouse; Leather Trousers, Necklace and Boots, Topshop; Tshirt, Zara; Bag, Vintage; Watch, Michael Kors.
What I Bought..
On my wishlist for the event was a leather pencil skirt, I would have thought I’d be lucky to find one but the sale was so impressive I had a huge selection to choose from even with everything being snapped up quickly. I got the skirt, this oversized tweed coat and the riding pants for a mere €28! That is a huge bargain especially as the coat and skirt were quite heavy in weight. The bag and boots were priced separately and I picked them both up for €8. I love the boots but they sadly don’t really fit me. For €3 I couldn’t resist but they fit my sister so I have given them to her. I love horse riding and some of the apparel can be so expensive so I was happy to find these ones. Although I love vintage I can be quite fussy and only buy items that are in great condition, as are all of these items. I also picked up beautiful turquoise rings from Folkster and K Kajoux which I will post again.
I am an avid vintage shopper and love attending vintage markets. I lived in Glasgow for a year and fell in love with vintage shopping. Vintage shopping is amazing in Glasgow, the west end holds some of the best vintage shops and vintage sales and markets are quite frequent. Admittedly I never knew the strength of vintage fashion in Ireland until recently, and until I stumbled across Shutterbug on Facebook. Shutterbug is affordable and places an emphasis on street style and what it’s customers really want. They stock great quality suede and leather wear as well as many sequined pieces that you wont find anywhere else. Their selection is beyond impressive, I would strongly recommend you to LIKE their page here.
You can buy some amazing pieces right from their facebook page.
