Last Thursday my friends and I attended the Irish Fashion Innovation Awards. It was such a fantastic night and the style, from the runway to the seats, was beyond impressive. It was my first year attending the annual event and I can honestly say it was a great show. It was an event for everyone, from the designer elite to the style savvy student. The show itself was inspiring, from students to professionals designers, the pieces were amazing. The style at the event was equally impressive; I love checking out everyone’s outfits at events like this one and I was very impressed with the style on the night. There was such a variation of styles, from innovative pieces to classic ladylike styles.
I purchased this Asos skirt a while back from Asos and was waiting for an opportunity to wear it since. It’s very classic and quite formal so I thought it was perfect for the awards. It’s a beautiful fit, I adore how it sits high on the waist and is still a long midi style. I had ordered this backless dress from Asos and it arrived a couple of days before the event so I decided to wear it as a top with the skirt. I have worn skirts over dress a couple of times before, it’s a great way to change an outfit around and get more wear out of your dresses. I was unsure about this statement necklace when I tried it on, it’s huge! But as it was the ‘Innovation’ awards I thought why not, and I actually really pleased as I recieved quite a few compliments on it at the event.
