I’ve had the French Riviera on my ever-expanding travel list for so long and just never got around to it. So if you’re like me – just book it! I would honestly highly recommend it. We spent our trip just wandering around the harbours of Cannes and Monte Carlo and exploring the French Riviera country side and all the charming villages and beaches in between the two cities that we spotted from the most picturesque train-route.

We spent most of our time in Cannes and Monte Carlo which are both amazing. We also hopped off the train in Ezé and went for an impromptu swim at the stoned beach of Ezé Sur Mer – a beautiful coastline tucked in away along the Cannes, Nice, Monaco route.

Travelling Around

We attempted – and failed to get a bus one of the days as the times suited our schedule more so than the train on this particular morning and after hearing on numerous occasions that the bus is so cheap. However, we found it difficult to even find the right bus stops let alone the actual bus we needed – and anyone we asked seemed to point us in a different direction.  I would strongly advise taking the train and avoiding buses – the train takes a beautifully scenic route, is quick and very affordable (€15 for a day pass meaning so you can make lots of stops at no extra cost).

Mimosas Resort Cannes

Mimozas Resort Cannes

We stayed in Mimozas Resort Cannes – a beautiful Irish owned resort tucked away on the outskirts of La Napoule, a quiet harbour village near Cannes. We actually loved being outside the city and could ride bicycles (they’re available from the hotel) into the village or train station. The train station is only a ten minute walk from the resort and from here you can travel into Cannes which is only a couple of minutes, to Nice, Monaco and all of the beautiful towns along the coast. The walk or cycle from the resort was beautiful as it was along a riverbank and the resort itself wraps around a lake.

The resort, while really big was surprisingly quiet. The pool area was never over-crowded and there was never a shortage of sun loungers, despite the resort being at capacity while we were there. Although it was quiet there was a really nice atmosphere around the resort.
