Meet the Influencer..

Most of you will probably know by now that I have a serious case of wanderlust and while I’m so grateful to have the opportunity to travel quite often – I often dream of booking a one way flight and travelling the world. Perhaps this wanderlust is the reason I am utterly obsessed with travel influencers on Instagram and one such influencer in particular, Terrie McEvoy. Terrie, a nurse  with a serious travel bug, packed up last year to travel South East Asia before residing in Sydney with her longterm boyfriend, David. The brunette beauty  never set out to be a traveller blogger but her love of life and travelling, and her radiant beauty has massed a cult following of girls who can live vicariously through her travel snaps whilst also picking up beauty tips and style inspiration via her hugely popular Instagram page @TerrieMcEvoy – follow her here.

With a passport full of stamps, I thought Terrie would be the perfect girl to have a chat about all things travel! If you don’t already follow and love Terrie, you will after this. This girl is intelligent, beautiful, fun and sweet (look out for her answer to her favourite place in Ireland!)

Unlike many others who start a blog, you seem to have just become a hugely popular Instagram influencer – how do you think this happened?

I get asked this question all of the time lol! I think maybe it’s because I am a full time Nurse and work hard long hours but enjoy every minute I have off too! I suppose a lot of followers could relate to my life! Once I announced I was going travelling and leaving Ireland on a one way flight my followers shot up! A lot of people dream about leaving on a one way flight so maybe people were interested in how my life would pan out after I “left it all behind”.

Where is your favourite place you’ve visited so far or top 3?

This is SUCH an impossible question! Everywhere I go I fall in love for different reasons! Can I pick 5? Haha! – Sorry Nuala I’m picking 5!

Philipines, Gili T, California, Whitsundays, Australia, Perhentian Island, Malaysia (in that order).

You’ve checked some amazing locations off your list already, what’s next on your list?

Miami, Orlando and Toronto.

Where’s your number one destination on your bucket list – or have you already been there?

Africa! It has always been my number one dream to swim with Great White Sharks in Africa and then do a Safari! This is 100% on the list for early next year!

Have you any advice on someone who wants to travel but it’s struggling to be able to afford it or take the leap?

Stop making excuses and just do it! Nothing worthwhile comes easy! You have to work hard, you have to make sacrifices, but in the end it is the most incredible and rewarding feeling knowing you have done something you have always dreamed to do.

I think you’re renowned for you flawless beauty as much as your travel pics, how do you manage to always look so amazing whilst travelling – we need to know you secrets!

Haha – thank you so much your just too sweet! It’s not always glam! Travelling is tough, and living out of a back pack is an absolute nightmare, haha! I suppose I look after my skin well when travelling by using high sun factors on my face and body and eating good foods. I also think a huge part of it is just down to being genuinely happy and enjoying every moment, maybe it just shines through!

You seem to be very successful professionally and love your job as a nurse, how do you balance it all? Do you ever see yourself packing away your uniform and becoming a full-time influencer?

Sometimes it’s hard to balance! I often get some amazing invites to events, shoots etc and I have to decline because I am a full time Nurse! But it is so worth it,… I adore my job and nothing can compare to the feeling that I get from caring for a sick patient! I could get 10,000 likes or followers in a day and it just doesn’t match to the rush of saving a life.

As tempting as it is, I don’t think I will ever pack away my uniform, I worked too hard to get to where I am today to throw it all away. I was born to be a nurse and I will keep following my gut and stick with what I set out to do. My goal is to become a lecturer so I am working towards that rather than the influencer roll

You seem to have travelled South East Asia quite extensively, where would you recommend someone visits / what route do you recommend for someone planning travelling here?

Yes! South East Asia is my FAVOURITE! I would recommend to firstly fly to Bangkok, then onto Koh Samui and Island hop for 4-5 weeks around south Thailand. Avoid Phuket if possible, this was my least favourite place in Thailand due to how heavily commercialised it is and the exploitation of animals. After Thailand I would recommend flying to Malaysia, Singapore, Philipines, and Bali! There is literally so much information that I could give, I could almost write a book lol!

You always look AMAZING in a bikini – what’s your secret?

Haha – thank you so much! Honestly, I have no secrets! I eat what I want and probably go to the gym twice a year! I hate working out it is SO not my thing! I’m sure it will all catch up on me as soon as my metabolism slows down – gulp!
