Before Christmas I decided to write a Year in Review post of 2016 and with being sick since the day after Christmas until, well currently, I’m only writing it now, the night before New Years Eve. I have also read two similar posts by two of my favourite, and charmingly honest, bloggers – Anouska and Erika. Reading theirs and various #YearInTheReview social media posts over the past few days has made me a little anxious about not achieving all I hoped in the year gone by. If I’m honest, 2016 was tough. It challenged me. But, I don’t and never will reflect on a challenge as nothing more than a lesson. I like to think I’m an optimistic person. I pride myself in seeing the good in people and situations. But being honest, I feel I have been a little less positive than usual as of late. I’ve let anxiety, stress and worries overcome at times. 2016 was probably the busiest year I’ve had and I unfortunately had to prioritise other commitments and step back from blogging and work more so than I wanted to. I made a decision and however apprehensive I was, I needed to accept that I couldn’t do everything and there really is only a certain amount of hours in the day. Having said that, 2016 also had many ups as well as downs. I had the opportunity to travel to many amazing locations (you can see my review of my favourites over on my Instagram) and I’m also very happy with all I’ve accomplished outside of the blog this year.
With all of this in mind, my primary goal for 2017 is to work hard but accept when I simply can’t do everything and to not stress the little, or even sometimes big, things. Because, when it comes to work, the “big” things are really only little things. I’ve also been very grateful in life and this year I want to try and remember to be grateful for having the opportunity to do something I love and work for myself, rather than letting myself feel I’ve not done well enough.
May marks the beginning of a new situation for me and will mean one hugely important thing – I’ll have more time to devote to work and travel. For this I am hugely excited and grateful for. While the first few months of 2017 are due to be busy (and likely stressful), I’m more determined than ever to achieve my goals.
Goals for 2017
Redecorate my office and create the perfect office space – I’ve already picked up some new pieces in TK Maxx for my office to kick start and motivate me in 2017 so be sure to keep an eye out for this post on here later in the week and on Instagram.
In 2017 I hope travel more – as always! 2016 was a busy one and other commitments meant I had limited opportunities to travel and had to decline some amazing travel opportunities. I have a list of places on my bucket list for 2017 which I may reveal in later post but I’m kicking off my 2017 travels with a ski trip with my boyfriend and friends of ours, leaving on the 2nd of January.
I’ll admit, beginning You Tube has been on my goal for the past TWO years, yes two! And in late 2016 I finally bit the bullet and began. While I have only shared two videos so far due to time constraints and it’ll likely be sporadic content for the next couple of months, at least I’ve started and I couldn’t be happier. I actually planned on shooting a few videos between Christmas and New Years but unfortunately I fell ill. As annoying as it is that I could film when I finally had the time, I just need to roll with these punches and try again. My goal for mid-late 2017 is to be posting regularly videos on You Tube.
More frequent content
As I mentioned above, I don’t have as much availability for the first few months of the year but I’m going to try my best to shoot looks and post more regularly and once I have more time, I hope to be publishing multiple times a weeks and multiple times a day on social. At the moment my content is very much sporadic so I would love to be able to get into more of a publishing routine.
And lastly, to you, the reader: you have no idea how much every click into an article, every like, every comment and especially every kind word spoken to or about me means to me. My blog, and my career, would be nothing without it’s readers and followers and for you, I am overwhelmingly grateful. From my parents and siblings, to my close friends to even those of you who have stopped me in the street to say hello, I am hugely grateful for your support and it generally warms my heart to know you enjoy my content. And also, if you are a brand with whom I’ve worked with this past year, thank you for choosing me to work with. I am so proud to work with each and every brand I decide to work with.
On that soppy note, I wish you all a happy New Year and I hope all of your dreams come true in 2017 and thereafter.
Warmest thanks to you all,
