West Cork Travel Blog | Eccles Hotel

As I mentioned in my ‘A Very Honest Life Update‘ post, I spent the weekend in West Cork staying in the Eccles Hotel, Glengarriff. Since we were in Limerick for my graduation, West Cork was the perfect location for a relaxing two night break afterwards. The Eccles Hotel is a stunning hotel situation on the Ring of Beara, Wild Atlantic way and over-looking a still Bantry Bay. We actually initially drove past hotel as we were too busy looking out at the view of the bay to even spot the hotel on the other side! As we walked up up to the hotel to check in I noticed a beautiful balcony which over-looked the bay and couldn’t believe when I later realised that the balcony was actually in our room. We were given Yeats Suite which was named after a former guest of the hotel, W.B. Yeats. The hotel itself is steeped in history dating back to 1745 and former guests include Yeats, George Bernard Shaw, and much more recently, Pippa Middleton.

Over the weekend we took a trip to Fota Wildlife Park, drove the Ring of Beara and along the scenic West Cork, and visited the town of Kenmare which is only a 35 minute drive from the Eccles hotel. The hotel is also only a couple of minutes walk from the quaint town of Glengariff which is also great for food and drinks. If you’re looking to explore West Cork or travelling the Wild Atlantic Way I would highly recommend a stay in the Eccles Hotel.
