Weekend in Killarney | The Europe Hotel and Spa

I’m currently on the train back to Dublin after spending the nicest weekend in Killarney, Kerry. It was actually my first time in Killarney. The past couple of years I’ve been trying to visit more places here in Ireland and I always love to blog about the trips as much as I can as I often get asked recommendations for places to stay or visit in Ireland from both my Irish and international readers. I’m particularly excited to share this blogpost as the hotel we stayed in, The Europe Hotel and Resort, is the nicest hotel in Ireland in my opinion. The hotel is beautifully situated by Killarney National Park overlooking the lake and mountains. You can see this beautiful view from almost everywhere in the hotel; the multiple lobby and bar areas, the restaurant, lake view rooms and even the outdoor pool. The pool area and thermal suites are absolutely fantastic, I could have stayed there all day. I can honestly say I had one of the most enjoyable and relaxing hotel stays ever. The food in the hotel was amazing as expected and one aspect I really enjoyed was they actually have two options for dessert; you can order your dessert to your table or you can chose to avail of the dessert buffet and enjoy an all you can eat selection of desserts and tea/coffee in the adjoining lobby for the evening. We relaxed by one of the fireplaces for the evening after dinner and it was so enjoyable.

While we were in Killarney for two nights, we actually only stayed in The Europe on the Saturday night and booked a more affordable hotel in the town itself for the Friday night. We met friends for a few drinks on the Friday night so it was ideal to stay in the the town itself as The Europe is a few minutes outside the town. As the Europe is a 5* hotel it is of course quite expensive but it’s honestly very worth it in my opinion. It’s the perfect location for a special occasion. I’ve saved snaps from our stay as a highlight over on my Instagram account if you’d like to check them out here.

Things to do in Killarney

Visit the Torc Waterfall – we went for a walk to the waterfall on Saturday and it’s beautiful. I would recommend walking up the trail to the top of the waterfall as the views are amazing.

Have drinks in Killarney town – The Ross Hotel does amazing cocktail and the decor is beautiful (and very Instagramable)

Drive the Ring of Kerry – Killarney is the perfect start and end point for the well-known Ring of Kerry drive.

Stroll around Killarney National Park

Visit the gap of Dunloe and return by boat to The Europe Hotel’s own private pier. We didn’t have time to do this but I would have loved to. Next time..

Shop my outfits from the weekend..

Until next time,
